Earindae Academy

Board Threads Posts Last Post
No New Posts FRONT HALL

The front hall is a rather spacious room, elegantly decorated with long silk amethyst curtains and dark cherrywood furnishings. Chaise lounges and armchairs are neatly placed in various parts of the room, accompanied by small wooden tables. A large light fixture, somewhat in resemblance to a golden chandelier hangs in the center of the towering ceiling, which is a masterpiece of fine art. Below the chandelier, is a very ornate array of sofas, with a table between them, and a rather unique statue placed upon its polished wooden surface. On either side of the room there is an enormous staircase leading to the second floor of the academy, where several offices and classrooms are located. Below the right staircase is a corridor that leads to several more classroom and offices. The polished door beneath the left staircase leads into the rather enormous library, which is also where that particular staircase leads. The library is two stories, and on the second floor, students are able to safely view the first floor from above, behind railings of course! The largest door in the front hall is located in the central rear wall of the room, below the balcony for which both staircases lead to. Within this room, you will find the dining hall. Two final corridors cooresponding on either side of the dining hall, near the doors below the staircase, lead through the academy and to the courtyard behind the large building, where other structures such as the dormatories are located.

No New Posts HEADMASTER'S OFFICE

The headmaster's office is located in a room branching from the front hall in the main academy structure. A polished oak desk sits in front of a rather large window overlooking the front of the academy. Bookshelves line the opposite wall and aged pictures are hung by the door, and opposite the entry. Pictures that are several years old and yellow with age. One is a portrait of the academy, before it ever became a boarding school. It was a very elegant looking chateau, but such elegance has been lost in the faded canvas. Two armchairs sit before the oak desk, and the headmaster's larger armchair sites behind it, against the window. Various piles of books and documents are stacked upon the desk and various other, small tables. On either side of the window, in the corners of the room are two very healthy plants that were grown from the academy's own botanical greenhouse, which is located to the west beyond the girls dormatories.

No New Posts LIBRARY

The library makes up an enormous part of the academy, and takes up two floors. Books of all sorts, shapes, and sizes are organized on oak shelves, and stacked on dusty wooden tables. Comfortable armchairs and sofas are all around the library for the use of students and teachers alike. Every student enrolled at the academy recieves their very own identification card for which is used when a student wishes to check out books for reports or for their own reading pleasures. Rather large light fixtures hang from the tall ceiling, and on one side of the library the wall is lined with towering windows decorated with rich velvet curtains. Few sections in the library occupy books and documents that are hundreds of years old. Many of them are various recordings of historical events, art, and religions. Dictionaries and bibles are mixed in with modern day novels and books of poetry.

No New Posts CORRIDORS

The campus is rather large, and there are several hallways and corridors within the academy. The corridors are often heavily occupied by students and teachers alike, whether they are walking back and forth between classes, or just wandering about. Pictures and portraits framed in gold and silver line the towering walls. The stone floors through the corridors are eligantly decorated with a pattern of unusual shapes. These great halls are off limits to all students after curfew. The main building of the academy houses several offices, including the headmster's officer, along with classrooms, on the east side of the building. The library, teacher, student lounges, and a few more classrooms are located on the west end of the academy building. The dining hall, kitchens, and the front hall or "lounge" is located in the central area, and several lavatories are spread about within the building.

No New Posts DINING HALL

The magnificent dining hall may only be accessed from the front hall. The large thick oak doors are located between the two sets of stairs in the main hall of the academy, and reveal a long elegant room filled with lengthy oak tables. Each table is decorated with a long silk cerulean cloth with silver edges Each chair on either side of the tables are also decorated with such colors; cerulean cushions with silver stitched edges on dark oak wood. Stitched in silver is the crescent moon on the back-cushion of each chair. There is a towering window at the very far end of the great dining hall, and the ceiling is a marvelous display of dark blue skies, shining stars, and heavy silver chandeliers. Food is served in the dining hall three times a day; at seven in the morning, twelve noon, and six in the evening. Between these times students are permitted to use the dining hall as a study enviornment.

No New Posts LAVATORIES

There are several lavatories located throughout the campus. Each of them are rather large, so that they may acquire enough room for the young ladies and gentlemen who wish to use the lavatories. Only the lavatories located within the dormatories are larger and inhabit showering stalls, whereas the smaller lavatories located within the academy walls only house bathroom stalls and sinks. The gymnasium does not have a showering room, therefore students should report straight to their dormatories after a workout so that they may take a shower and prepare for the rest of the day that may be ahead of them.

No New Posts COURTYARD

The courtyard is a rather large expanse of spacious greenery conveniently located in the center of the campus, between the academy, dormatories, and various other campus structures. The courtyard is a rather busy area of the academy, seeing as students must pass through the courtyard from their dormatories to get anywhere else on the campus' grounds. Paths of gray stone wind through the courtyard to each building around it. Along these paths are various light posts which keep the paths lit during the night. Small trees dot the area, as well as a few larger ones that are often more occupied by loitering students. Newly coated benches are also abundant in the courtyard, as well as a rather large stone fountain located in the very center of the courtyard. Any statues, fencing, and walls in the courtyard are usually crawling with vines, as such on the walls of the academy and other buildings on campus. The overgrowth is usually trimmed down, but occassionally the caretakers responsible for the task take their time in performing it. Even so, the vines are a rather unique addition to the stone structures.

No New Posts DORMATORIES

The dorms are rather large, and are seperated by gender. The boys dorm is near the west wing, whereas the girls dorm is located opposite, to the east. It is forbidden for boys to visit the girls dorm rooms after nine o'clock, and vise versa. The dormatories resemble the structure of the main academy building, regal and gothic. All of the buildings oncampus were like this, though. Both dormatories are three stories tall, and house nearly two hundred dorm rooms. There are several lavatories within the buildings, large enough to occupy bathroom stalls, sinks, and showers for the student's hygenic needs. Long benches are located between the bathroom stalls and sinks so that the boys ad girls may bring towels, wash cloths, a new change of clothes, and other accessories and not have to place these possessions on the floor. The corridors and lavatories are cleaned very often by campus caretakers.

No New Posts MEDICAL WING - 1 Viewing

The medical wing is located on the second story of the main academy structure. From the front hall, persons may find the medical wing down the right corridor on the balcony that connects to the stairway. The medical wing is not usually busy, and the academy only has one certified doctor, accompanied by several nurses who are ready to serve should a student be injured. The medical wing is a rather large room that is longer than it is wide, and houses several beds on either side of the room. One single large window occupies the rear wall. The medical staff is also responsible for the student's necessary checkups and vaccinations.

No New Posts GREENHOUSE

A single, rather large dome is located on the western part of the campus. Within the thick glass structure of the greenhouse you will find several magnificent gardens, each with very distinct plant characteristics. There are hundreds of types of plant life and flowers housed in this single, magnificent greenhouse. Even within the dome itself, there are smaller greenhouses where some plants may be taken for observation or preparation for specific class needs, such as for biology studies and occasionally economic purposes. Most of these greenhouses, however, are locked so that students may not ruin specific studies. Students are restricted from the greenhouse after curfew.

No New Posts MAJOR CITY OF BRASOV

Brasov is situated in the central part of the the country being considered the second most important town in Romania. Located 160 km from Bucharest, Romania's capital, Brasov is surrounded like a halo by the Carpathians, being in the middle of the country at the crossroads of the the Eastern Carpathians and the Southern Carpathians. Across the mountains to the South and East there are Wallachia and Moldavia, to the West the Banat region, and to the North the rolling hills of Northern Transylvania. Brasov has a temperate-continental climate with cold and relatively wet weather in the mountains. The summer nights in Brasov could be a little chilly. The transition between summer and winter occurs gradually by the insertion of two other seasons called "spring" and "autumn". The average temperature is 7.6 degrees C and the annual average humidity in the air is 75%. Brasov's natural tourist potential is closely connected with its relief since the nearest Eastern and Southern Carpathians are able to satisfy the tastes and desires of all tourists, who are longing to practice either winter sports or summer sports. Three important resorts (Poiana Brasov, Predeal, Sinaia) offer tourists a wide range of winter and summer sports like skiing, snow boarding, driving snowmobiles, swimming, climbing, tennis and roller skating. Brasov County, and the mountains partially enveloping the region, are home to many species of wildlife, including wolves, brown bears, foxes, roebucks, stags, wild boars and lynx.
