Henri Coandã International Airport is Romania's main international airport. The airport is located in Otopeni, north of Bucharest. It is named after Romanian flight pioneer Henri Coandã, the builder of the world's first jet powered aircraft. Until the 21st century, its original name was Bucharest Otopeni International Airport, and is still locally referred to by its former name.

No New Posts GARA DE NORD

Gara de Nord, meaning "North railway station," in English, is the largest railway station in Romania and has served hundreds of trains, including domestic and international trains. The vast majority of mainline trains to and from Bucharest originate from Gara de Nord. The station is served by several bus lines, as well as the Gara de Nord metro station. Due to the building of the station, visitors cannot switch lines to the metro station without leaving the terminal station.

No New Posts ROMANIAN ATHENAEUM

The Romanian Athenaeum, or "Ateneul Român," is a concert hall in the center of Bucharest, Romania and a landmark of the Romanian capital city. Opened in 1888, the ornate, domed, circular building is the city's main concert hall and home of the "George Enescu" Philharmonic and of the George Enescu annual international music festival. The overall style of the building and its facilities is neoclassical, with some more romantic touches. In front of the building there is a small park and a statue of Romanian poet Mihai Eminescu. Inside, the ground floor hosts an ornate conference hall as large as the auditorium above. The auditorium seats 600 in the stalls and another 52 in loge seating.

No New Posts CISMIGUI GARDENS

The Cişmigiu Gardens (pronounced sis-mih-gwee), are a public park near the center of the city, spanning areas on all sides of an artificial lake. The gardens' creation was an important moment in the history of Bucharest. They form the oldest and largest park in the city's central area. The main entrance is from Regina Elisabeta Boulevard, in front of the City Hall. The southwestern corner of the park is adjacent to the Gheorghe Lazăr High School. The Cișmigiu Gardens have a rich history, being frequented by famous poets and writers. Opened in 1847 and based on the plans of German architect Carl F.W. Meyer, the gardens are currently the main recreational facility in the city centre.

No New Posts NATIONAL MUSEUM OF ART OF ROMANIA

The National Museum of Art of Romania is located in the former royal palace in Revolution Square, central Bucharest. It features notable collections of medieval and modern Romanian art, as well as the international collection assembled by the Romanian royal family. The museum was damaged during the 1989 Romanian Revolution that led to the downfall of Nicolae Ceauşescu. In 2000, part of the museum reopened to the public, housing the modern Romanian collection and the international collection; the comprehensive Medieval art collection, which now features works salvaged from monasteries destroyed during the Ceauşescu era.

No New Posts WINTERTIDE ICE STADIUM

Wintertide Stadium is the largest ice stadium in Romania. Here, two of most popular winter sports events are hosted; figure skating and hockey. Two completely different athletic activities. The enormous stadium is open all year-round for public ice skating when there are no games or competitions scheduled for the local hockey teams and figure skaters.

CAPITOL CITY BUCHAREST
First by plane, then by train. In order to get to Brasov, one must fly to the capitol city of Romania; Bucharest. Here, a train station is only miles from the airport. Of course, there is always the option to take a taxi or tour bus to Brasov, however, train is the fastest method of travel to and from the northern city.
